The composer of Modern Warfare 2 distances itself from the soundtrack

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Composer Sarah Schachner announced that she is distancing herself from the game’s soundtrack. Call of Duty is known for a number of things: explosive and cinematic campaigns, fun multiplayer modes, and popular music. The series has seen major composers like Hans Zimmer contribute music to the franchise to create memorable, adrenaline-pumping themes and music. Music is as important to the Call of Duty series as any other element in the series.

nevertheless, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Warzone composer Sarah Schachner revealed that she would not compose any music for the games and that she was unhappy with the way her music is being presented for the game. She noted that she has no say in how the music will be used in the game, but believes that the actual soundtrack is not her “artistic intent.” She also described the game’s unnamed sound director as “increasingly challenging” and cited it as the reason for her pulling away from the project.

“It saddens me to say that I can no longer continue writing music for MWII/Warzone,” Schechner said. “Over the past couple of months, the dynamic of working with the sound director has become increasingly challenging and I don’t see any path forward. As of now, I’m not sure about the status and release plan for the soundtrack as it has been left out of my hands.

“While I have no control over how the music is presented in the game, what will be released on the soundtrack is not my artistic goal in terms of mixing and mastering. Mike Dean was part of the creative vision for the album as well as Frank Wolff mixer. We have soundtrack masters at Handy Mike which unfortunately you’ll never hear.”

As of now, we have no idea what Schachner was referring to when she said the sound director was “increasingly challenging.” It is not clear if there is any way to resolve this on Activision’s side or whether Schachner is willing to return should things settle. Either way, it looks like Infinity Ward will have to look for a new composer for future games.
